This exploration into how we categorise and use language is a performance teetering between live art and theatre and represents an unrelenting attempt to define and organise words that are commonly used, sometimes misunderstood and often ambiguous. Two performers sit facing each other reading five hundred definitions; they are sometimes personal stories, other times attempts at dictionary definitions, occasionally lists of statistics, with one-liners thrown in every now and then. Set in a mock office environment over three hours, the audience is free to come and go as the performers establish that meanings are fluid, definitions can be broken and, if you speak enough, all meaning is lost. Directed by Rachel Warriner. |
